ABTRACT: The primary objective of this study is to conduct an assessment of the business studies curriculum implemented in secondary schools, with a specific focus on the Junior Grammar School situated in the Ikorodu Local Government Area of Lagos State. The investigation employed a survey-based descriptive research methodology, wherein the researcher deliberately opted for a sample size of 150 participants through the convenience sampling approach. A total of one hundred and forty-one (141) participants who completed the self-structure questionnaire were subsequently obtained and duly validated for the purposes of this study. The findings of a rudimentary percentage analysis were presented through the utilisation of tables and frequencies. The hypothesis test was conducted using the Chi-Square Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS v.23). Based on the empirical evidence presented in the study, it has been discerned that the optimal dissemination and absorption of knowledge in the realm of business studies encounters obstacles due to the inadequate incorporation of pedagogical approaches that prioritise the active involvement of students. Regrettably, strategies such as educational excursions, collaborative dialogues, independent and collective undertakings, computerised simulations and gaming, lively deliberations within the classroom, the inclusion of expert speakers, and the examination of real-life scenarios remain largely underutilised. Consequently, in light of various suggestions, it was proposed that the government and other key stakeholders collaborate to allocate sufficient fiscal resources to facilitate the implementation of pedagogical approaches that prioritise student-centered learning within the educational milieu, with a specific emphasis on the junior secondary school tier.
